S355J2H is a hollow section (H) structural steel (S) with a minimum yield strength of 355 Mpa for wall thicknesses ≤16 mm and a minimum impact energy of 27 J at -20℃(J2).
It is widely used in structural engineering, bridge construction, steel building and industrial applications such as retaining walls and caissons.
The executive standards for S355J2H steel include both BS EN 10210 and BS EN 10219. Although they have some differences in details, overall very similar, so this article will be two standards for S355J2H-related requirements together.
Pipe Materia
S355J2H is an unalloyed steel, steel number 1.0576, which is fully quenched using the FF deoxidation process and contains nitrogen-binding elements sufficient to bind usable nitrogen, e.g. a minimum of 0.020% total aluminum or 0.015% soluble aluminum.

The manufacturing process in BS EN 10210 is categorized as seamless or welding.
HFCHS (hot-finished circular hollow sections) are commonly manufactured in SMLS, ERW, SAW, and EFW.
BS EN 10219 Structural hollow sections shall be manufactured by welding.
CFCHS (cold-formed circular hollow section) are commonly manufactured in ERW, SAW, and EFW.
